  • Serengeti Great Migration (River Crossing)

    7 Days | July-November

The Great Migration is one of the most breathtaking wildlife spectacles on Earth! Every year, over 1.5 million wildebeest, accompanied by hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles, embark on a clockwise journey across the Serengeti ecosystem in Tanzania.

This epic migration is guided by seasonal rains and grazing availability, with the herds typically calving in the southern Serengeti during the rainy season. While the exact timing shifts slightly each year due to rainfall patterns, the migration remains an endless cycle of movement, survival, and instinct, ensuring the continuation of one of nature’s greatest journeys.

  • Southeastern Plains & Ndutu

    7-10 Days | December-March

The southeastern plains of the Serengeti, particularly around Lake Ndutu, offer one of the most intimate and dramatic wildlife experiences. The short-grass plains provide ideal grazing conditions for wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles, making it the epicenter of the calving season. Vast herds of wildebeest and zebra are attracted by the seasonal rains in this region. Lake Ndutu is the heart of the wildebeest gathering- countless wildebeest calves born making it a high point of the Great Migration. Predators are drawn to these young herbivores resulting in southeastern Serengeti becoming the dramatic setting for new life, and death.

  • Western Serengeti

    6 Days | May-June

The Western Corridor, or Serengeti West, extends approximately 100 kilometers from Central Serengeti toward Lake Victoria, following the path of the Grumeti River. This region offers year-round wildlife viewing, with diverse habitats ranging from broken savannah to vast open grasslands.

South of the Grumeti River, the savannah supports large resident populations of giraffes, wildebeest, elephants, zebras, and lions, making it a prime game-viewing area. In contrast, the little-visited northern grasslands provide an ideal hunting ground for cheetahs, offering excellent opportunities to witness these agile predators in action.

With its mix of riverine forests, savannah, and open plains, the Western Corridor is a rich and varied ecosystem, playing a key role in the Great Migration as wildebeest herds cross the crocodile-infested Grumeti River on their journey north.

Join Oregei to explore the diverse ecosystem of The Western Corridor. Our custom safari jeep offers unobstructed views of wildlife. Experienced and vetted safari guides lead you on every game drive, sharing their in-depth tracking expertise to ensure optimal wildlife encounters. • Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park

    4 Days | June-October

Tarangire National Park boasts the highest concentration of African elephants in northern Tanzania, with over 300 elephants gathering along the Tarangire River during the dry season. The park is also renowned for its majestic ancient baobab trees, which dominate the landscape. Bird enthusiasts will find world-class birding here, with three endangered species—Rufous-tailed weaver, Ashy starling, and Yellow-collared lovebird—calling Tarangire home.

Ngorongoro Crater – A UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest intact volcanic caldera on Earth and serves as a natural sanctuary for some of the densest populations of large mammals in Africa. It is one of the best places to see the Big Five—lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo—alongside wildebeest, hippos, zebras, and other wildlife. Due to its enclosed nature, the crater has developed a self-sustaining ecosystem, making it a biodiversity hotspot and one of the most unique safari destinations in the world.
